HEELS UNDER MY FLATS!?
CHAPTER – 8
Hey, hello, finally, I get to meet some normal people, because this house is full of mysterious beings whose intentions I can’t fathom into constellations. A great climax awaits both of us, so let’s go.
“KNOW WHAT THINGS SHREYA? ABOUT BOYS BEING THERE IN THAT HOUSE WITH YOU GIRLS OR ABOUT ALL THE LIES YOU TOLD ME? WHICH ONE ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?” my mom was crying her heart out.
With tear logged eyes, I stared at my phone screen, imagining to be in the middle of the ocean, while a cyclone was surrounding me with all of its wave soldiers and even with its windy aircrafts. I had nowhere to go, nothing else to do, other than confess everything to my mom, who was on flames of fury.
I bid one last good bye to all my friends, who stood around me (as everyone got to know about my venomous trap), with my eyes and did open my mouth to just close after releasing some air, which was disturbing me for so long. I did that because I heard a sound which was the antidote I was starving for.
“HELLO AUNTY, how are you? It’s been so long. Why is Shreya so silent, I thought she was taking a selfie. Well, you have grown younger, you look like Shreya’s big sister. Wow, what is your secret aunty?” said Ashwathi, who gave me a broad smile, which indicated that she was my life-saver.
My mom did not respond to that compliment, which would have otherwise taken me months to control my mom from her excitement, but now, she was definitely angry. I signaled Ashwathi that it wasn’t working and she kept diverting the topic but the cyclone was too strong and loud that my mom went deaf.
Then again, I resumed my confession session, I opened my mouth a bit wider this time and was stopped again by Nrithya, who became a part of this awful and dreadful video call.
“Hello aunty, it’s so good to see you again. Sorry aunty, I couldn’t talk to you properly, back in the house, but next time, we are definitely hanging out! What say? Oh, don’t look at Shreya like that aunty. She’ll allow this hangout, won’t you Shrey?” she said as she looked at me and winked, for which I was copying my mom’s reaction of staring blankly, as if there was only a blank wall in front of me.
I lost faith and I spilled the first few words which went numb with Sulochana’s monologue.
“Hello aunty, you need not worry, we are all doing great here and we all will take care of Shreya very well. Please don’t strain yourself over this.”
That monologue did turn into a dialogue with my mom’s reply, “How are the boys doing Sulochana? Mainly that Aadarsh who’s still in his suit?”
[Guys calm down. It’s not that serious right? My mom knew the truth, so what? She’s a cool person!]
Or was she? I just felt like I was shot by Aadrash and was engulfed by the cyclone with a bleeding heart, well, even then, my skull was still sealed, which means that the secret was still a secret and was not a trending gossip.
“Amma, come on, first greet my friends. And moreover, why would Aadarsh be here? What is wrong with you? I thought you trusted me, and all of us too. Why do you keep speculating about boys being on this trip? Or do you really want us to go with boys? This is too much amma, I thought you understood things and knew about us very well, which you haven’t clearly.” I said as I gave an annoying look at my mom, who was still reciprocating me.
“I trust you, all of you. But I saw Aadarsh on that bed and I’m so sure about it. Do you have a script to explain that?” my mom asked in a quite composed tone.
“Uh…. about that… I guess you saw Anuksha. She was actually wearing her father’s suit as to have a photoshoot and to do some tik-toks and those bottles are just wine bottles, filled with grape juice!” I said with portions of tensions while signaling Anuksha to get into her developed role already, as my mom would always want some practical evidence to believe anything I say, in particular, for, I keep torturing her to show some physical evidence to believe in all of her religious beliefs.
“Here, see your so-called Aadarsh now!” I said and gave space for Anuksha, who had worn the suit while I was tackling my mom. She came, greeted my mom and said, “Aunty how do I look? Prettier than Shreya right?”
“Ahh… there you go my little girl. Shreya is nowhere near you. You are my darling.” my mom said with some fake smiles but somehow succeeded in annoying me, which never bothered me at all, for I had better problems to solve.
“Alright then, I believe you and sorry for the misunderstanding, what’s your plan people?…” my mom resumed her regular talks.
Cyclones usually cause great damage while they subside, therefore, just when we all thought that my mom was convinced that there were no boys in the home (while they were actually hiding in that same room), that’s when our lead-spoiler played her role and did play the last ritual song for me.
“Hey Aadarsh, where are you? Guys? Niranj? Marlon? Come here!” sang Ananika, as she stood right in front of me.
“YOU HAVE A BETTER STORY SHREYA?” my mom asked with an angry face, that I almost saw the ‘god of hell’.
“ANANIKA!!!!!!” I thought to myself
while my intentions to just dump her in the underground was so irresistible.
“Uh…Amma, she’s actually referring to all these girls, right here, for we troll them with those boys. That’s why. In fact, Ananika is in the other room, that’s why she’s calling all of us. Other than that, there’s nothing worth your angry face. Smile?” I somehow managed to console my mom, while others made sure to evacuate Ananika from that place.
“You girls are incorrigible. Shreya, you better come home soon, you need a lot of tinkering to be done. Bye now. Take care. I love you all.” my mom said and finally disconnected the call.
Wow that felt amazing. I almost received all of my breath back from the cyclone which stole it and I was back to normal when Marlon came out of the room to speak with Ashwathi. (Sounds too simple? Wait, till I reveal everything.)
Ashwathi made a loud exclamation again. Not for her girl best friend, but for her boyfriend, who had a punctured nose.
“What happened huh? When did this happen? How? Why? God, are you alright?” Ashwathi freaked out. Marlon held her by her shoulders and said, “Honey, I’m perfectly alright. Stop worrying and shouting too.”
“But how did you get this wound?” Ashwathi asked him to which Niranj came out and said, “I gave him that!”
All stood paralyzed in that living room, while I was still enjoying my great escape from one of the worst cyclones, on the sofa.
“Wait what? Why did you harm my boyfriend? What is your problem Nirnaj?” Ashwathi exclaimed and the argument developed till an extent where Niranj had to tell the whole story, including his proposal and Sulochana’s acceptance too.
And again, there was it, Verbal Fight Part 2. Ashwathi, Marlon, Niranj and Sulochana were engulfed into the argument,
while Anuksha and Aaron were trying to bring some peace. Nrithya was near me, doing something with her phone, who did lose her temper and asked me to do something to stop the fight.
I stood up, I went to the place of the fight, and somehow, with some punches here and there, I managed to bring in a huge distance between the 2 teams.
“Don’t be childish guys. Ashwathi, everything is fine, everyone are great. Stop buzzing things around. Moreover, it is Sulochana and Niranj’s choice to open about their relationship to us. Don’t feel offended by it, in fact you told us only after a month. So, relax and Sulochana and Niranj, say sorry. Come on guys, let’s breathe for a while, shall we?” I said and did receive convincing results, until, I found the absence of 2 members.
I went in search of them to the room that started all the mess again, and found my beat lost in the vacuum of the room which had Aadarsh and Athi who found my entry shocking. Both of them were in the same room, I had no problem with that, but the fact that Athi was shivering while Aadarsh looked at me with tears made me feel uncomfortable and curious.
“Hey guys, what is it? Is there anything I should know? Hey Aadarsh you okay? Athi please tell me what’s happening here! You’ve already had me scratching my head.” I said, as I sat near Aadarsh and held his hands, as he was in tears.
“Uhh… Shreya, the thing is, Aadarsh and I, we kinda…” as Athi was saying, Aadarsh took his hands out of mine and walked away, making me think a million things but hoping those were not true.
“You need to know things Shreya. Sit down, he’ll be fine!” Athi said, as she made me sit on the bed while my heart pondered over the teary eyes and the sad face Aadarsh had.
Uff, I thought I was finally out of the loop, but here is when I understood that I had just begun my path to escape and I was already lost in the big Bermuda Triangle. I had my love heart-broken on one side, and my best friend ready to disclose the biggest of all secrets on the other. My brain wanted to be there with Athi and listen to the story but my heart wanted to be there with Aadarsh, who needed a shoulder to cry and some love to cope him up. There was me, all sucked up by the Bermuda Triangle which gave me problems continuously.
However, I’m done for today, I’ll continue the story in another week. Before I go, I want you guys to do something, why don’t you all think of what YOUR REACTIONS WILL BE TO THIS SCENARIO, and especially to the last one? Will you choose your heart’s saying or your mind’s command?
