HEELS UNDER MY FLATS!?
CHAPTER – 7
Good evening everyone. This week has been very tough for me because I myself could not wait till Friday to disclose what happened, for, you see, I’m a very bad secret-keeper. Finally, here we are to another dramatic nightmares of my life.
As soon as Aadarsh and I heard the scream from another bedroom, where the other girls were there, we rushed to see what was really going on. We walked to the door and did knock it. Anuksha opened the door and led us to the inevitable and the biggest turmoil that was happening on the bed. The participants for that verbal fighting match was Ananika, who was in red and Ashwathi, who was in a blue costume. They were shouting at each other at the top of their voices, that even their vocal cords could not resist and the roof of the building were shivering to break so as to let the high-pitched sound evaporate from the closed room.
I gave a sigh, made a U-turn and just when I was about to leave the room, Anuksha held me by my hand and said, ‘Please solve this meaningless thing and leave, they are breaking heads, I could hear my skull cracking, so please help me out!’.
‘So you think my voice is gonna be louder than this mess?’ I asked her while I went near Ananika and Ashwathi and shouted “SHUT IT GUYS. WE’VE STILL GOT 9 MORE LIVING CREATURES IN THIS HOUSE AND WE CAN’T TEND TO LOSE ANY OF THEM. KEEP IT LOW.”
Both the participants turned their gaze at me and sat silent for a few seconds, and again resumed their fight, which made me angry
and so I left the room along with Aadarsh.
Now, again, before I could make a conversation with him, the other boys came and directed me to look at Anuksha, who was being followed by Aakar. “They are cute! Pity on Aakar though! Let’s see if he succeeds!” teased the boys. Well, to me, that scene looked like Aakar was begging Anuksha for something more serious. However, I was disturbed by the boys’ comment and asked them, “Succeed? In what boys?”
They all shared strange, weird expressions and the most irritating custom of staring at each other’s faces except mine. “What is it? Tell me, come on!!! Please don’t be part of breaking my head!” I pleaded them until Niranj finally spoke, “Uhh… Shreya. See, we all know that you are a juvenile, yet we can’t stop ourselves from…” and gave a pause as he looked around and came a bit closer to my ears.
“From what? Spit it already!” I said.
“To get drunk / wasted!” He finally said, looking straight at me.
“W…H…A…T? In Anuksha’s house?? Are you guys serious? Tell me you are kidding me? Is this the reason for Aakar’s begging session? You guys are crazy. Between, what do you mean by me being juvenile? I’m old enough to be your partner in crime!” I said with shock in my eyes and laughter in my lips.
Just after I got to know their secret mission, Aakar and Anuksha joined our conversation with broad smiles which depicted that Aakar has won the debate.
“Shreya? You are with them too?” Anuksha asked shockingly.
“Ofcourse yes!” said Marlon.
“Ofcourse NOT!” I said, staring at Marlon.
“Dude, she’s old enough to be my partner in crime!” said Niranj as he winked at me.
“What on Earth Shreya? I can’t deal this mess with your mother…” Anuksha started freaking out.
“Woohooo, calm down dude. I’m still a teetotaler and I’d like to stay the same way. So breathe!” I reassured her and patted her back.
We all shared laughter’s while Nrithya also joined the club that had nothing to do with her, however, she just simply popped in to have her ‘laughter-therapy’.
The first and foremost rule of Shreya’s life is, none of the happy moments stay for more than 2 minutes.
To prove this theory, Athi came out of the girl’s room, slamming the door behind, as if she came out of an oven. She came straight to me and kinda yelled, “WHY DO YOU CARE?”
Now, we all froze and I was clueless in what she has to say.
Before I could ask her more, she turned her back and went to the sofa, placed herself on it with a bang and went into a crowded isolation.
“What is it Athi?” asked Aadarsh, while we all sat around her.
“AADARSH YOU STAY OUT OF IT, ALRIGHT!” she said and gave him a big snub that he almost got irritated and left the place, followed by his tribe, so as to start their party.
“Can I get some answers here Athi?” I asked her, while Anuksha went inside the room to see how the girls were doing with their fights.
However, Athi was the hard nut to crack, especially after a volcanic eruption and so I decided to let her cool down and I decided to do something with my phone. Only during this time, I realized that my phone was missing and so I went in search of it.
I followed my previous footsteps to find my mobile, and the first place was the sofa, where it was not there, or that Athi was all over the place so I couldn’t search it, therefore I skipped it. Next was the match room, where the participants were quite tired and the room sounded so beautifully silent, but my phone was still missing.
Just before I could make my next move, I heard my name in the air. “SHREYAAAAAAA… COME HERE!!” Niranj shouted from the opposite room. I crossed the living room and went there in a jog so as to know what was happening.
“What is it Niranj? Why are you on top of your horrible voice? Spoiling my sweet name?” I asked him while he handed me my phone.
Something seemed different, my phone was not blank but was bright with motions. With tensed eyes, watering skin and shivering limbs, I lifted my phone to meet my eyes and I wished I had closed my eyelids forever, for I was not strong enough to meet the unexpected nightmare.
“SHREYA? WHAT IS HAPPENING? I SAW NIRANJ, AADARSH AND MARLON. WHERE ARE YOU? AND WHAT ARE THOSE BOTTLES ON THE BED?” my mom yelled over the call while Nirthya was finding it hard to control her laughter.
“A VIDEO CALL? Please tell me I’m still breathing!” I thought to myself.
First of all, I decided to clear the place of intoxication and went near the sofa, in the living room and just when I was about to open my access to my vocal cords, my ears sensed another attack towards my way.
“I thought you knew, I’m Sorry!” said Athi and left the place.
“GOD! What is it with all these people?” I thought,
as I knew that Athi was not mentioning about the death that rested on my right hand, but was talking about the hell that I was yet to discover.
“SHREYA? ARE YOU ALREADY DEAD? ANSWER BEFORE I COME THERE TO PLUCK YOU OUT!” my mom yelled.
Now what could I say? What lies would I develop in my last few seconds? I knew I was dead. For the first time, I accepted my defeat and was ready surrender and so I took my phone up to my face, made eye contact with my mom and said, “I THOUGHT YOU ALREADY KNEW THINGS AMMA!”
“Know what things?” she asked in a confused tone!
What do you think was I talking about? Keep figuring that out till next Friday and I will tell you what was wrong with Athi and will also release my tackling results. I know, there are 90% chances that I will fail in escaping the slaughter house that kept emitting huge cries of the verbal fighters and the dying wishes of my heart but I hope you guys still have hope on that 10%, for I should be alive so as to keep this story ticking. I mean, what’s a story without the protagonist? Alright, take care and have fun till we meet next week.
